Launceston - Cataract Gorge

Launceston's own piece of wilderness - just 15 minutes walk from the centre of the city, here you'll find -
. walking and hiking trails,
. the world's longest single span chairlift (457
  metres),
. a swimming pool,
. restaurant,
. kiosk,
. peacocks strutting,
. Victorian gardens,
. a band rotunda,
. suspension bridge,
. and lookouts with spectacular views of the flood
waters in the gorge at the present time.

In the lovely setting of the Victorian gardens there's a shady Kiosk and Restaurant
And, if you're not too steady on your feet, there's a mechanical inclinator consisting of a glass-lined compartment, similar to a cable car, resting on twin rails set into the ground. The inclinator compartment is capable of carrying up to eight people and has wheelchair access.

A Peahen and Peachick!
